A WHOLE WALL
UK, Documentary, 19'15''
East Side Gallery, Berlin, stands as a statement of creativity which succeeds borders and restraint. Having grown up in West Germany, close to the border, Günther Schaefer tells of his childhood severed from family members in the East. Fast forward to November 1989 and Günther, the young photographer, takes some of the most iconic photographs of the wall’s fall. After settling in East Berlin, he and a small group initiate a huge and ambitious project in a celebration of freedom and diversity. This is a story of art’s struggle and triumph against injustice.
